Founders

Gabriel Lambert and Hari Jeyabelen are the founders of the society and are passionate about creating a student group that engages with and contributes to global health policy. Having recruited both committee and policy teams, they worked closely together to oversee the organisation of the conference in November 2014 and direct the editors of the policy themes. With their diverse experience in global health they are excited to see what Polygeia will become.

Gabriel started his academic career with a Modern History degree at Oxford where he published his research on witchcraft and colonial law in Nyanza, Kenya. He started a long-standing interest in international development with six years working with Education Partnerships Africa, an NGO that invests in secondary schools in Kenya and Uganda. He studied graduate medicine at Cambridge where he founded Polygeia before completing his academic foundation training in London. He then completed the East African Partnership Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and spent 6 months in The Gambia, working with the Prevention Of Liver Fibrosis and Cancer (PROLIFICA) group on following up a ‘test and treat’ cohort of Hepatitis B positive patients. Currently working as an internal medical doctor in London, Gabriel is interested in combining his interests in global health, health policy and clinical medicine.
